The Year that was 2012...

Hello!  Today I've got a layout to share that I created for a challenge at "That's Just So Cute".  The challenge is so cool!  You have to choose from one of the past super-talented guest designers' challenges from this year.

I have chosen the challenge by SYNNØVE which is to use lots of detail and incorporate paint / gesso & lace.  Interesting, hey?  Here's my layout, entitled "The Year that was 2012"...

I have also been inspired by "That's Just So Cute's" blog header.  There is a cute speech bubble that really got me inspired to document all the cute (ha! - cute) things my daughter Heidi had said and done over the year (well all the ones that I could remember well!).  I had these pics that were taken from my phone using the halftone app and instagram app, as well as some taken on my real camera, that each have a funny story to tell!

Every little frame that I made is a little like a mini-layout, and I've included journalling for each one by either adding to the photo, the frame, journalling tags or the photos may of already had the information such as the date and what was said etc. on there... as halftone can record stuff really easily and quickly, then and there.  Plus I love the comic-book style too!  So fun!  BTW - I don't have shares in halftone in case you're wondering... Lol!

Each of my mini layouts have some FWAB Adhesive Pearls in the colour palette that I used (I was inspired by a set of Sharpie markers that I picked up... they are called "80s brights"... seriously!

I made my background with some left over alpha stickers stuck onto cardstock, then I painted gesso over the top (nice and thick) and then once dried, I painted some nice bright orange acrylic paint over the top of that.  This was a fantastic base to work with.  I then machine stitched my lace (available from Meg's Garden) across the background, to "anchor" my mini layouts.

I used some funky 2Crafty chipboard as frames on my layout too.  I've got (in order from Left to Right, Top to Bottom); Tiny Funky Frame, Damask, Thought Bubbles and Small Postage Stamp Frame.  These cute chippies come in nice packs of similar and/or same designs so there are plenty to mix and match with each of your projects. :)

The washi tape is from D-lish Scraps, as are the Journal It's Note Strips - Rainbow and the Resin Polka-Dot Button - Black.

Okay, one more thing before I go - I am so stoked that I received two Honourable Mentions in the latest Scrapbooking Memories magazine - Master's Issue!  They are for my single photo layout "Wow" and my 12" x 12" mixed media canvas "H".  Soooo thrilled!  I wasn't expecting that!!  Congrats to all the other HM's too!  And of course a humungous congrats to the new Masters!  What a talented bunch you are!!!  WTG girls!  I'm sure you are going to enjoy your awesome journey ahead (and the fab prizes!!).

Well that's all from me for now!

Cheers! :)
