I've covered three Chunky Hearts in patterned paper and outlined
around the edges with a black gel pen.
The clouds and suns are from the fun Weather Bits packs. I have used two suns, layered one on top of the other using foam squares. The bottom sun has been painted in gesso, inked and outlined in black gel pen, whilst the top sun has been covered in patterned paper, outlined in black gel pen and placed at a slightly different angle so that the rays don't line up... it's extra sunny that way! :)
Now for my next layout, "Catching Waves"...
I based my layout on a current sketch over at My Creative Sketches.
On the bottom right corner I have used Wavy Borders - cut up, painted,
doodled and layered to match my title...
doodled and layered to match my title...
I couldn't have found a better title if I tried for this one! I love this title, "Catching Waves". I've simply cut it in half, brushed it with a couple of coats of gesso, and then I've used a little blue acrylic paint and dry brushed over the top of this (not waiting for it to dry) using a left to right motion. Fun! Once dried, I attached them to my layout, layering "Waves" over the top of "Catching" so it looks really wavy, then I've used black gel pen to write in the middle of the letters.
I've painted a Pelican here and I'm really pleased how he turned out! This was really fun and easy to do. I first covered the wooden post in some woodgrain washi tape, then I painted a wash of brown paint over the top, mixing with some grey and then finally the white paint (the poo Lol) - concentrating this at the top and giving the effect of it dripping down... without trying to sound gross! :)
The pelican was covered with a coat of gesso, followed by white paint, and then I proceded to highlight his eye using a teeny dot of yellow paint, pink paint for his beak, grey paint for his legs and feather highlights, finishing off with some black paint for his wings and eye. I used a pencil to engrave a line in his beak for his mouth whilst the paint was still wet.
Now for my final layout; this month the 2Crafty team has been honoured to be asked to guest design for the fantastic challenge site, CSI.
I have fussy-cut all those little hearts there and I hand drew the large heart, cutting it out to expose the cute patterned paper underneath.
The Birds on a Wire border has been painted in much the same way as the hearts,
The same technique has been used again, for the Summer Leaf Stems, this time with a turquoise base coat. I've trimmed each leaf from the original trunks and turned the leaves into decorative photo corners. The trunks will be used in a future project! :)
